A different test. Editioned sculpture placed inside the Nordic art-fair frame at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

CHART 2025 gave Edition Solenne a different kind of test. Project Materia 2025 had been a co-founded exhibition system, built from the ground up with its own site, cohort and curatorial argument. CHART placed Edition Solenne inside an established Nordic art-fair context, as part of the Special Projects programme at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

The shift matters. In a fair, works must compete with surrounding galleries, institutional architecture, rapid viewing habits and a public already trained to scan. Edition Solenne's task was to make editioned sculpture and collectible objects feel precise, authored and credible within that compressed environment.

Institutional frame

CHART describes its Special Projects as presentations by galleries, collaborators and organisations outside the art fair proper, exhibited across the foyer, stairways, courtyard and Chapel at Charlottenborg. Edition Solenne appeared alongside artists and presentations from Galleri Bo Bjerggaard, Arnstedt Ostra Karup, V1 Gallery, SPECTA, Thula and Etage Projects.

That context placed Edition Solenne in a useful tension. It was not presenting a conventional gallery booth, but it was also not operating as a design brand. It had to argue for a third position: editioned works with artist authorship, material seriousness and collector accessibility.

The selection

The presentation gathered Landon Metz, Rose Eken, Gun Gordillo, Thomas Kiesewetter, Kaare Golles, Asger Harbou Gjerdevik, Sif Itona Westerberg, Laurids Gallée, Willem van Hooff, Andrés Reisinger and Cathrine Raben Davidsen. That selection linked the permanent Edition Solenne programme to the broader ambition of Project Materia: not one style, not one medium, but a field of sculptural propositions held together by scale, material presence and edition logic.

The coherence came from contrast. Landon Metz and Gun Gordillo bring very different relationships to surface, light and line. Rose Eken's ceramic object-world sits far from Reisinger's digital-to-physical forms. Sif Itona Westerberg's relief language, Gallée's graphic object vocabulary, and the material intelligence of van Hooff and Raben Davidsen do not collapse into one aesthetic. The Edition Solenne frame asks those differences to coexist through the edition as format.

Not a shop, not a traditional gallery, and not a design-fair accessory, but a publisher of objects that can move between domestic scale, fair context and art-world scrutiny.

Why CHART matters

CHART was a visibility platform, but more importantly it was a credibility test. The Special Projects context allowed Edition Solenne to show that editioned objects can hold their place among gallery presentations without apologising for edition size or collectibility. It also extended the platform's practical role: marketing, sales, installation, fair-facing communication and direct collector handling, all under one roof and in the same week.

Editorial angle

The story is about compression. At CHART, Edition Solenne had to compress artist background, material logic, edition structure and visual impact into a presentation that could be read quickly but still reward slower looking. That is exactly the challenge the platform faces more broadly, and CHART 2025 stands as evidence of public positioning: the moment where the model was tested in the same circulation system as Nordic galleries, special commissions and institutional audiences.
