Collecta Verde is a sculptural fruit object, a bowl or tray to gather vitality and bloom, composed of clustered spheres, hand-carved from richly veined green marble. The spheres, or grapes, have a vitality and smooth appearance, yet are lifted from the pedestal, an interesting contrast to the heavy weight of marble. The clustering form appears as if grown together rather than shaped, an accretion of smooth volumes evoking seeds, cells, or a botanical bloom. The tactile surface invites touch, while the deep green veining adds visual movement, recalling the vitality of natural systems and the way the stone formed in the soil over decades.

The work
The name, Collecta Verde (“green gathering”), speaks to the object’s dual nature, at once architectural and biological, structured and soft. Resting atop a marble column, the whole object becomes a study in contrasts: rounded and square, heavy and light.
Some examples are in stock in Copenhagen for immediate delivery; stock changes often. When an example is not in stock, the lead time is 8 to 12 weeks.

Materials and making
Hand-carved marble
Marble is worked by removal; nothing is added back. Each block is unique, and the carver reads its veining and density before the first cut. What remains is stone that has been in the ground for millions of years, shaped over months into a single, unrepeatable object.

01
Selecting the block
Stone is chosen from the Apuan quarries above Pietrasanta, assessed for grain, colour and freedom from flaws before work begins.
02
Roughing out
The mass is reduced toward the form using point and tooth chisels, establishing proportion and volume from the solid block.
03
Carving the detail
Master carvers refine the surface with rasp, riffler and drill, translating the artist's intent into stone by hand.
04
Finishing
The surface is worked from coarse to fine (matte, honed or polished) according to the work, revealing the marble's depth.
