Sidsel Meineche Hansen
1981, Denmark · London, UK
Sidsel Meineche Hansen is a Danish visual artist whose practice explores virtual and robotic bodies and their relationship to human labour within the gaming, pornographic and tech industries. Working across wood, clay, metal, woodcuts, textiles, CGI animation and video, they describe their approach as a "techno-somatic" investigation foregrounding the body and its industrial complex.
In 2020 Hansen received a Turner Prize bursary from Tate Britain, in recognition of work including Welcome to End-Used City (Chisenhale Gallery, 2019). Solo exhibitions include shows at KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; Bergen Kunsthall; and Christian Andersen, Copenhagen. Hansen participated in the 59th Venice Biennale, The Milk of Dreams (2022).
